PCC brings policing Q&A to Dereham

Have you got a question on policing and crime in Norfolk? Would you like to get an answer from the Police and Crime Commissioner or Chief Constable? Here's your chance as newly-elected PCC Lorne Green brings a public question and answer session to Dereham.

Ahead of drawing up his plan for tackling crime and disorder in Norfolk over the next four years, the PCC wants to hear about the crime and policing issues affecting the county’s communities.

As part of a drive to gather residents’ views, a public meeting will be held on 21 July to give people the opportunity to question the PCC and Chief Constable, and have their say on Norfolk’s policing and crime priorities.

“I truly believe that we learn more from listening than speaking”, Lorne said, “and that’s the guiding philosophy behind my crime and policing consultation.

“As PCC I am responsible for setting the direction for how we, as a county, tackle crime and disorder and keep our communities safe. I want that direction to be shaped by the views and needs of Norfolk’s residents, and that’s why I’m extending this invitation to come along to Dereham and share your questions, views and experiences with us.”

After the question and answer session, the PCC and Chief Constable will hold their regular Police Accountability Forum meeting, where Lorne will receive update reports from Chief Constable Simon Bailey on performance, finance and other key areas of police business.

“This is a chance for Norfolk’s residents to see police accountability in action. They will get their chance to ask questions of me and the Chief Constable, and then I’ll have some questions of my own as we look at policing in closer detail.

“These meetings, where I hold the Chief Constable to account, have always been held in public, but often it’s only one or two people who come along. I’d like to see that change. This is a standing invitation to anyone who cares about the policing of our county to come along and find out more.”

Public information, question and answer session - Thursday 21 July 2016, 5.30pm, Council Chamber, Breckland District Council Offices, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 1EE. To be followed by Police Accountability Forum meeting (agenda and reports will be published on the Norfolk PCC website ahead of the meeting).
