Norfolk Independent Advisory Group Annual Meeting

Members of the public are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of Norfolk’s Independent Advisory Group (IAG) due to take place next week.

IAG is a group of local residents from different community backgrounds who work alongside the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk (OPCCN) and Norfolk Constabulary with the aim of improving the quality of policing services.

The group has a key role in helping to increase the public’s trust and confidence in the police, particularly amongst minority communities.

They help with monitoring the quality of service the Constabulary provides to the diverse communities of Norfolk with particular emphasis on hate crime, critical and major incidents and policies and procedures.

Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Lorne Green, who will be attending the meeting, said: “The value of this group is fundamental to ensuring that Norfolk Constabulary remains open, transparent and community focused.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the IAG members, who give up their free time to represent their local communities, for their continued support.

“I would also like to encourage members of the public to come along to the meeting next week to hear more about what it being done to keep Norfolk safe.”

Norfolk Constabulary’s Deputy Chief Constable Paul Sanford, who will also be in attendance, added: “The IAG continues to provide an important service to Norfolk Constabulary. They provide a means of helping the Constabulary to understand the needs and views of groups who would be otherwise under-represented in our decision making processes.

“This is achieved by providing us with counsel when making significant operational or organisational decisions and by feeding back the views of our communities. The IAG influence much of what we do and I am grateful for their ongoing support.”

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 3 December 2019 from 6pm in the Filby Room at Norfolk Constabulary Headquarters, Jubilee House, Falconers Chase, Wymondham NR18 0WW.

Members of the public will be welcomed to ask questions of the IAG members alongside members of Norfolk Constabulary and PCC Lorne Green.
