Norfolk's PCC seeks to reassure public

Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner Lorne Green has sought to reassure the public amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

"We are living in unsettling and unprecedented times, times which see uncertainty and worry spread throughout our communities. So, at times like these it is more important than ever to stand together and to offer all the help and support we can to those in most need.

Norfolk has a wonderful community spirit and I am confident such spirit will help carry us all through the tough days, weeks and months ahead. However, we must look out for each other, small actions can make a huge difference whether it is offering to do some shopping for a neighbour in need or being at the end of the line for someone needing a kind or reassuring word. I am heartened to hear so many have already stepped up to the mark and offered help.

I am in regular contact with the Chief Constable on how the constabulary is adapting and responding to these challenging times and I am assured the situation is being managed effectively in collaboration with partners across the county.

But, as well as the monumental police effort taking place it is also vital victims of crime and vulnerable members of our community continue to get the help and support they have come to expect and indeed, rightly deserve.

Supporting victims and reducing vulnerability continues to be one of my absolute key priorities as your PCC and my office is in daily contact with our commissioned services to offer support to continue to help those in most need in Norfolk.

We are all committed to doing everything we can to help our communities during such difficult days.

We need to look after one another and above all keep as safe as possible by listening to the guidance given by our colleagues in the health service.

Together we can make a difference."
