Panel to receive updates on fire governance, preventing offending and supporting victims

Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Lorne Green, will attend a public meeting next Tuesday to take questions on progress against the county’s Police and Crime Plan.

Members of Norfolk’s Police and Crime Panel, established to maintain a ‘check and balance’ on the performance of the PCC, will quiz the Commissioner on his work in two priority areas:
  • Supporting victims and reducing vulnerability, and;
  • Preventing offending.
The public meeting, taking place at County Hall on 19 June, will focus on some of the projects and commissioned services put in place by the PCC over the course of his two years in office so far.

Panel members will receive updates on the Gateway to Employment and Women Offenders of Norfolk, Diversion, Engagement and Rehabilitation (WONDER) projects, working with offenders and those at risk of offending to help turn their lives around.

The Panel will also find out about services commissioned by the PCC to support victims of crime in the county, including Norfolk and Suffolk Victim Care – a victim assessment and referral service which is a joint project with Suffolk’s PCC.

There will also be an overview of policing operations, such as work to disrupt drug supply activity in the county, reduce associated violence and exploitation of the most vulnerable in our communities.

The Panel, made up of county and district councillors and independent members, will also receive an update on the business case currently being developed to explore the future governance of Norfolk’s Fire and Rescue Service.
