PCC and Chief Constable to host Q&A session

Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Chief Constable will be answering questions from the public at a special event next week.

PCC Lorne Green and Chief Constable Simon Bailey will host a Q&A session in Downham Market on Monday 23 April to give people the opportunity to share views, issues or concerns about crime and policing in their area.

The event is the second of its kind in 2018 as part of the Commissioner’s ongoing pledge to give the public access to the county’s senior officers while ensuring he and the wider police service are visible, accessible and accountable to all.

Last year Lorne held seven Public Accountability Forum (PAF) meetings – one in each district - with the Chief Constable, each followed by a public Q&A session.

For 2018 Lorne decided to split the two events – holding each PAF at police headquarters in Wymondham while taking the Q&A sessions ‘on tour’ across the county.

More than 60 members of the public joined Lorne and the Chief Constable for the first such event in Watton last month and he is hoping to see an equally good turn-out in Downham Market on Monday.

“As Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner it is important I listen to any concerns people may have about policing and my new-style question and answer sessions are a perfect platform in which to do so,” said Lorne.

“The Norfolk public has really bought into the Q&A events and I am very much looking forward to Monday evening. I hope Downham Market residents will welcome the opportunity to raise any views or concerns they may have face-to-face with myself and the Chief Constable.”

Over the course of the year the PCC will be making his way around the county - keep an eye on the Norfolk PCC website for future dates and locations.

The Q&A event will be held on Monday 23 April from 6pm at Downham Market Town Hall, 6 Market Place, Bridge Street, Downham Market, PE38 9DE.
