PCC responds to latest crime figures for England and Wales

Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner Lorne Green has released the following statement in response to the publication of the latest recorded crime data by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) for England and Wales.

The quarterly statistics, released today by the ONS cover to the year ending December 2019, and show Norfolk still has the lowest crime rate in the East of England.

PCC Lorne Green, said: “I am reassured to see that Norfolk still remains the safest county in the Eastern region in which to live and work.

“It is concerning however , that certain crime types continue to show rises both nationally and locally and I shall be raising this with the Chief Constable in due course.

“In other crime categories such as theft, burglary and vehicle offences it is positive to see decreases – it is particularly reassuring to see a decrease in the number of recorded robberies in Norfolk given the fact there is a national increase of more than 11 per cent.”
