PCC to hold Chief Constable to account at special meeting next week

Policing in the county will once again be under the spotlight next week as Norfolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) holds his third Police Accountability Forum of 2018.

PCC Lorne Green will quiz Chief Constable Simon Bailey on progress against the county’s Police and Crime Plan at the meeting at Norfolk’s Police Headquarters in Wymondham.

Last year, the Police Accountability Forum meetings were combined with district-based public Q&A sessions. For 2018, those two elements are being split and held as separate events.

“I’m committed to ensuring my work as PCC is open and transparent,” said Lorne. ”I’d welcome anyone who would like to know more about the work of their police force to come along to the Police Accountability Forum in Wymondham to observe.

“And if you have a question for me or the Chief Constable, or a concern or observation you would like to share, please make a note of the next Q&A date. We’ll be continuing to work our way around the county over the coming months.”

Items on the agenda for the meeting on the 14 May will include:
  • How the county’s policing service is achieving value for money for taxpayers.
  • What the Constabulary is doing to support victims and reduce vulnerability.
  • How the Force is working to prevent offending.
Anyone unable to make the meeting in person can find the agenda, minutes and reports on the Norfolk PCC website.

The Police Accountability Forum meeting will take place on Monday 14 May, between 2 and 4pm in the Filby Room, Norfolk Police HQ, Wymondham, NR18 0WW.

The next public Q&A will be held in the Great Yarmouth area on Thursday 5 July 2018. Further information will be announced in due course.
