Residents invited to meet Police and Crime Commissioner

Residents are being invited to meet with Police and Crime Commissioner Giles Orpen-Smellie to discuss any issues they may have about crime and policing in Norfolk.

Giles’ is next due to visit Great Yarmouth Library, Tolhouse Street, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2SH, between 10am and 12 noon on Friday 2 June. All are welcome at the event and there is no need to book.

This comes ahead of his next virtual ‘Time to Talk’ session on Friday 21 July 2023.

The ‘Time to Talk’ meetings are held virtually or over the telephone and give people direct one-to-one access to Giles.

They come in addition to his regular tours of towns and villages across Norfolk and the quarterly PCC Accountability Meetings Giles hosts to publicly question, challenge and hold the Chief Constable and senior officers directly to account.

As well as his visit to Great Yarmouth next week, Giles will be in the following locations later this year:

  • Friday 8 September - 10am to 12 noon, Cromer Library, Prince of Wales Road, Cromer, NR27 9HS.
  • Friday 6 October - 10am to 12 noon, Norwich Millennium Library, The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich NR2 1AW.

Again, all are welcome.

PCC Giles Orpen-Smellie, said: “If you would like to speak to me about crime and policing in Norfolk please take the opportunity to pop along to one of my events to speak to me face-to face, or book some time in my diary for a virtual ‘Time to Talk’ session.

“My last few visits at libraries across the county and ‘Time to Talk’ sessions have been really informative, and I hope as many of you as possible take the opportunity to meet me – I really would like to hear from you.”

If you are interested in booking a 15 minute slot with the PCC for his virtual ‘Time to Talk’ event on Friday 21 July between 9.30am and 12.30pm, please email: opccn@norfolk.police.uk or call 01953 424455.
